Rodarte Partners With Vans For ‘Custom Culture’ Competition

Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte are extending their talents to inspire high-schoolers.

The designer sisters have lent their support to the Vans Custom Culture competition. Created in 2010, Custom Culture is a national high school shoe customization contest where schools from all over the U.S. compete for a chance to $50,000 for their art programs. With a blank pair of Vans, art supplies and creative juices, students are encouraged to give their all.

Submissions for the shoes have ended, but 50 semi-finalists (ten schools per region, five total regions) will be announced April 22. To get the competitors excited, Rodarte created custom shoes clad with gold and translucent sequins.
